Can Kissing Spread Oral Herpes? CBCD Answers Questions on Herpes Symptoms and Treatment

A survey elicits common public questions on the subject of oral herpes.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD), recently received answers to a survey regarding the public’s knowledge of the herpes virus.

One of the questions asked was, “If you have cold sores, do you think it is possible to infect others while kissing?” Amazingly, many respondents said “No.”

The Center would therefore like to remind the public that HSV-1, the oral herpes virus, is incredibly contagious and can be spread very easily through kissing. This is especially true when a person has an active cold sore present on the mouth.

Oral herpes is an infection of the lips, mouth, or gums due to the herpes simplex virus. It causes small, painful blisters commonly called cold sores or fever blisters. Oral herpes is also called herpes labialis.

After the first infection, the virus goes to sleep (becomes dormant) in the nerve tissues in the face. Sometimes, the virus later “wakes up” (reactivates), causing cold sores. Herpes viruses spread easily. One can catch this virus during intimate or personal contact with someone who is infected. One can also catch while touching items infected with the herpes virus, such as infected razors, towels, dishes, and other shared items. Parents may spread the virus to their children during regular daily activities.

Mike Evans, from the CBCD said, “It’s amazing. We get crazy questions about oral herpes all the time. Mostly, they are from teenagers but occasionally we get them from adults as well. Awareness efforts definitely should be stepped up.”

The CBCD would like to make clear that until a herpes vaccine is made available to the public, there remains no cure for any type of herpes infection. This includes both oral as well as genital herpes.

As noted above, after an initial period of activity where there can be up to 5 major outbreaks in a year, Herpes establishes what scientists call a latent infection. When a virus is latent, it acts as if it is asleep or dormant. When the immune system is weakened, however, the herpes virus can “wake up” and become active again.

The best defense against a latent herpes infection is a healthy immune system.

That’s why the CBCD would like to point out a herpes remedy that helps the immune system target the latent herpes virus (HSV).

“The key to your health is to reduce the level of latent viruses in your body to harmless levels.” – Dr. Hanan Polansky

The name of that antiviral remedy is Gene-Eden-VIR. It is an all-natural product scientifically designed to help the human body maintain low concentrations of the latent herpes virus.

Gene-Eden-VIR is effective against the latent herpes virus. Each ingredient was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals around the world to identify safe and effective natural ingredients that target the latent forms of both HSV-1 and HSV-2.

Gene-Eden-VIR is safe. It has been on the market for over three years, and in that time, no side effects were reported. Each capsule contains a patented formula of five all natural ingredients including selenium, camellia sinesis extract, quercetin, cinnamomum extract, and licorice extract. In addition, each bottle is GMP Certified.

Gene-Eden-VIR is sold online through the Gene-Eden website. Each bottle of Gene-Eden-VIR (a one month’s supply) costs just $42.99.
